Today, on the NJLP's behalf, I asked the Union County Prosecutor's office to investigate Open Public Meetings Act violations committed by the Roselle Borough Mayor and Council. My letter to the Prosecutor starts at page 13 of the file that can be downloaded here.

The sequence of events leading up to this complaint are as follows:

  1. On September 2, 2007, I requested the resolutions and minutes that are attached as exhibits to my complaint to the prosecutor.

  2. After my request was denied, I filed a complaint with the Government Records Council (GRC)seeking to compel the Roselle Borough Clerk to provide me with the resolutions and minutes.

  3. On April 30, 2008, the GRC ordered Roselle Borough to provide me with the requested resolutions and minutes.

  4. On May 12, 2008, Roselle complied with the GRC's order.

  5. On May 16, 2008, I determined that the resolutions and minutes are not compliant with the Open Public Meetings Act and filed my complaint with the prosecutor's office.

Sincerely,
John Paff
