I am proud to be the Libertarian candidate for New Jersey Assembly in the 16th District. It is my honor and privilege to represent the cause of freedom here in the Crossroads of the American Revolution. I am not a career politician. I am a fourth-generation Skillman, New Jersey farmer. I graduated from Rutgers University with highest honors, a 3.96 GPA and degrees in Philosophy and Sociology. I have taught US History and Economics at Camden Academy Charter High School in Camden, NJ. My band has performed 80 shows, received airplay on over 200 radio stations and recorded four studio albums in Hillsborough. My 2012 Libertarian run for US House in the NJ-7th earned 4,078 votes.
My top legislative priority is immediate property tax relief. The only way to do this is to reform our inadequate public education system. We need to make literacy, history and economics the core of the curriculum. We should encourage competition through school choice, charter schools and home schooling. We must eliminate the standardized testing that stifles critical thinking skills.
As a former Camden, NJ Social Studies teacher I understand how badly our schools are failing our children. I support distributing the Property Tax Relief Fund (money collected from the State Income Tax) equally to every pupil in the state. Throwing money at failing schools does not solve our education problems, it subsidizes them.
Washington was correct when he said:
“A primary object…should be the education of our youth in the science of government. In a republic, what species of knowledge can be equally important? And what duty more pressing…than communicating it to those who are to be the future guardians of the liberties of the country?”
I am a strong advocate of banning red-light cameras. These Orwellian revenue generation mechanisms have been statistically shown to increase accidents. Law-abiding Citizens should not be monitored like incarcerated prisoners.
We must immediately nullify the anti-Constitutional tyranny of the NDAA and PATRIOT ACT. I will introduce the Liberty Preservation Act to restore the Bill of Rights in New Jersey. Since the NDAA was passed in 2011 the federal government has assumed the dangerous authority to indefinitely detain any US Citizen without judge, jury, trial, lawyer or any due process. In a free society individuals are innocent until proven guilty.
I want to restore our lost 2nd Amendment Rights. Peaceful, law-abiding American Citizens have the right to own firearms and not be persecuted like criminals. An armed Citizenry reduces crime and limits tyranny. Self-defense is a basic human right.
Another vital issue in much need of advocacy is the restoration of Constitutional Money. We the People need to understand the Federal Reserve System creates the inflation which amounts to taxation without representation. Our money is backed by nothing and managed by a private corporation. Yet many people are unaware that the Constitution clearly states:
“No state shall…make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts”(A1.S10)
It is imperative that we solidify our fragile, unstable banking system. Push Congress to reinstate the Glass-Steagall Act and repeal Dodd-Frank. The bailouts are legalized theft. We must prosecute criminals like Jon Corzine who commit bank fraud.
New Jersey belongs to the People. The proper role of government is to protect the People’s rights.
I will go to Trenton to work for you as your neighbor. Public servants should work for their constituents not their own personal self-interests. The status-quo is clearly not working yet our founding principles are always available for rediscovery. Please visit my website McKnight1776.com for more my full platform and more information. The future is up to us.
